Electronic Identity Verification Terms

Aspire is required to verify the identity of its customers as well as each person who is an ultimate beneficial owner of the customer (such as a shareholder), each person who has effective control of the customer (such as a director) and each person authorised to act on behalf of the customer (such as an authorised user).

We need to do this to meet our obligations under certain laws that apply to us such as anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws. If we are unable to complete our identity verification procedures, the customer will not be able to use our services.

You confirm each of those persons have been made aware of the content set out in these terms and have expressly agreed to permit us to verify their identity as set out in these terms including for us to:

(a) make an identity verification request about them via one or more of our service providers which may include making an identity verification request to a credit reporting body;

(b) disclose their personal information as part of the identity verification request including their name, residential address and date of birth as well as information derived from their identification documents such as their drivers licence or passport.

Aspire may request for our service providers to provide an assessment of whether the personal information about the person matches (in whole or in part) the information held by the service provider. Our service providers may use that personal information for the purposes of preparing such an assessment before they prepare and provide us with their assessment. 

Aspire may access or use data to verify the identity of a person that is directly or indirectly sourced from one or more of the following data sources:

  • Equifax Australia Information Services and Solutions Pty Ltd
  • Experian Australia Credit Services Pty Ltd
  • illion Data Registries Pty Ltd
  • Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Department of Human Services
  • Australian Electoral Commission
  • Australian Border Force
  • Australian State and Territory Births, Deaths and Marriages Registries

We may also access or use data from other sources not specifically listed above including data that is publicly accessible.

A person’s credit eligibility information will not be impacted where data is sourced from a credit reporting body for the purpose of verifying the identity of that person.

If any person whose identity we are required to verify does not agree to these terms, you must not provide us with their personal information. In such cases, please contact us about alternative ways we may be able to use to verify that person’s identity.
