What is a business checking account?
A business checking account is a dedicated account for your company's everyday money. You collect customer payments into it, pay your suppliers and contractors out of it, and usually run payroll through it as well.
It also keeps your business finances separate from your personal ones. Clean separation makes bookkeeping simpler, makes filing with the IRS far less painful, and helps preserve the liability protection your LLC or corporation is meant to give you.
Beyond the basics, most business checking accounts connect you to a wider set of tools, including ACH payments, wire transfers, accounting software integrations, corporate cards, and expense controls. The real differences between providers usually come down to what those extras cost and how quickly your business outgrows them.
Types of Capital One business checking accounts
Capital One currently offers three business checking tiers, each with its own monthly fee, balance threshold, and set of wire and cash deposit terms.
[Table:1]
1. Capital One Basic Checking
Basic Checking costs USD $15 a month, and you can waive that fee by maintaining a USD $2,000 minimum 30-day or 90-day average monthly ledger balance, whichever of the two is greater.
Cash deposits made with a teller are free up to USD $5,000 per statement cycle, after which Capital One charges USD $1 for every USD $1,000 you deposit. Cash you deposit at Capital One and select Allpoint ATMs doesn't count toward that monthly limit and carries no fee at all, which is worth knowing if you handle cash regularly.
Domestic wires cost USD $15 incoming and USD $25 outgoing. The account doesn't pay interest and doesn't earn rewards.
Best for: businesses that keep at least USD $2,000 on average or can justify the USD $15 fee, run mostly digital transactions, and don't send many wires.
2. Capital One Enhanced Checking
Enhanced Checking costs USD $35 a month, and the waiver requires a USD $25,000 minimum 30-day or 90-day average monthly ledger balance, again taking whichever figure is greater.
In exchange for the higher fee, cash deposits become completely free with no volume charge, incoming domestic wires cost nothing, and your first five outgoing domestic wires each month are free before the USD $25 charge kicks in.
Enhanced holders can also run up to two Basic Checking accounts with no monthly service fee, for as long as the Enhanced account stays open and in good standing. That's genuinely useful if you like keeping operating cash, tax reserves, and payroll in separate accounts.
Best for: businesses with more frequent domestic wires or teller cash deposits that can maintain the higher balance, or whose usage makes the extra monthly fee worthwhile.
3. Capital One Premier Checking
Premier Checking costs USD $99 a month and waives the fee if you maintain an average monthly collected balance of USD $100,000 or more. The charge doesn't begin the moment you open the account either, because Capital One only starts assessing it from the fifth statement cycle onward.
The tier includes treasury management, remote deposit capture with a complimentary single-feed scanner for qualifying customers, and Reverse Positive Pay fraud protection at no extra charge.
There's an important catch around access, though. Premier runs on Capital One's Intellix platform rather than standard business online banking, and its discounted wire pricing only applies when you send through Intellix. If you send the same wire from online banking, a branch, or the call center, standard pricing applies instead.
Best for: qualifying higher-volume businesses that need treasury management, fraud controls, and more included wires, and that can work through a dedicated business banker.
How much does Capital One business checking cost per month
Capital One business checking account fees in 2026
The headline monthly fee is only part of what you'll actually pay. Most of the variation comes from wires, cash volume, and whether you clear the balance threshold in any given month.
Two details are worth pulling out before you look at the table. The first is that the balance waiver is measured on a 30-day or 90-day average, whichever is greater. One strong month won't protect you if the rest of the quarter runs light.
The second is that outgoing international wires cost more in US dollars than in foreign currency on both Basic and Enhanced, at USD $50 against USD $40. If you're paying an overseas supplier who invoices you in USD, you end up paying the higher of the two, and Capital One's website comparison table only lists the USD $40 figure.

Fees checked Aug 2026. Capital One's Basic and Enhanced key services and charges documents are revised Jan 2025 and the Premier document is revised Jul 2025, while the product pages are current for 2026.
Premier wire pricing depends on the channel. The discounted rates above apply to eligible wires sent through Treasury Management Intellix. Standard pricing may apply to wires sent or received through online banking, a branch, the call center, or email.
Features of a Capital One business checking account
Unlimited fee-free digital transactions
Mobile deposits, ACH payments, and select online bill pay options carry no fee on any of the three tiers. Free online bill pay applies only to select methods such as ACH and excludes some other payment methods, including card-based options.
Business debit card and 70,000 fee-free ATMs
Every Capital One business checking account comes with a business debit card at no cost. It supports contactless payments, works with digital wallets, and can be locked and unlocked from the app if it's lost or stolen. You can also turn on instant purchase notifications to see when the card is used.
The card gives you access to more than 70,000 ATMs, and you can make cash deposits at Capital One ATMs and select Allpoint ATMs. That network combines Capital One's own ATMs with the MoneyPass and Allpoint networks, and Capital One dates the count to Mar 25, 2026, noting that it draws on data from third-party network providers.
Cash deposits at ATMs, not just branches
You can deposit cash at Capital One branches, Cafés, and select Allpoint ATMs. Because ATM deposits don't count against Basic Checking's monthly teller limit and carry no cash transaction fee, this softens the branch problem considerably for anyone operating outside Capital One's footprint.
Free overdraft protection with a linked Capital One business deposit account
Rather than paying the USD $35 overdraft fee, you can link another Capital One business deposit account to cover shortfalls automatically.
Two free Basic accounts with Enhanced
Enhanced Checking holders can run up to two Basic Checking accounts with the monthly service charge waived on each. If you close the Enhanced account, those charges resume on the Basic accounts.
FDIC insurance
Capital One N.A. is an FDIC member, and deposit coverage applies up to legal limits based on ownership category.
Limitations to Capital One business checking
No tier pays interest
Basic, Enhanced, and Premier all answer "no" to both interest and rewards in their disclosure. That means your operating balance sits idle, including balances maintained to meet Premier's $100,000 fee-waiver threshold.
Capital One sets size limits on business checking eligibility
Capital One states that its business checking accounts aren't intended for commercial clients with annual sales revenues above USD $10 million, and that such clients may be converted to an alternate checking product.
Enhanced Checking carries a separate limit. Capital One designs it for businesses with cash deposit needs under USD $40,000 a month, says businesses that no longer meet that criterion may be converted to a different product, and reserves the right to close accounts that continue operating outside it.
Both are worth checking before you open an account. If your revenue or your cash volume is climbing quickly, the tier you pick now has a stated ceiling written into its own disclosure.
Premier can't be opened online or at a branch
Capital One Premier account is only available with help from a Capital One business banker, and eligibility runs through a short form. If you want the free wire allowances that come with Premier, you have to qualify for a banking relationship first.
International wire fees can add up on Basic and Enhanced
Both tiers charge USD $15 for an incoming international wire. Outgoing wires cost USD $40 when sent in foreign currency and USD $50 when sent in US dollars, so settling supplier invoices abroad every month adds up quickly.
The USD $10 gap between the two outgoing options is only a difference in wire fee. Sending in foreign currency means Capital One converts the money, so the exchange rate applied is a separate cost you'd need to weigh alongside the fee.
Availability isn't guaranteed everywhere
Capital One says its products and services may not be available in all areas, and may require a physical bank branch location or a designated banker to sign up.

- Social Security number
- US address
- Contact details
Business details:
- Legal business name
- Entity type
- Formation date
- Business tax ID
- Annual gross revenue
- Number of employees
Documents:
- Personal identification, such as a Social Security card or personal tax return
- Business formation documents, which might include Articles of Ownership, Articles of Incorporation, business tax returns, proof of ownership, an SS-4 notification letter, an Assumed Name Statement, or a current lease or Certificate of Occupancy
- Ownership details for every owner, including ownership percentage, date of birth, Social Security number, and address
The exact document list varies by entity type, and Capital One publishes separate lists for corporations, S-corporations, LLCs, and series LLCs, so check yours before you start.
Capital One also requires that you're at least 18 and a legal US resident, and every applicant is subject to a review of past account handling.
Basic and Enhanced accounts can be opened online. Premier requires a Capital One business banker.
Managing international payments alongside your business account
Businesses paying overseas suppliers or collecting from international customers often need payment and spend-management tools that sit alongside a domestic business checking account rather than replacing it. Aspire¹ supports eligible businesses with international transfers and corporate cards² in one place.
If you're weighing the two side by side, here's a detailed comparison of Aspire and Capital One business checking.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Capital One 360 business checking account?
No, there isn't. Capital One 360 is the consumer banking brand, and business customers use Capital One's small business checking lineup instead, which consists of Basic, Enhanced, and Premier.
Can I open a Capital One business account online, or do I need a branch?
You can open a Capital One business account online if you're applying for Basic Checking or Enhanced Checking. Premier Checking is the exception, because Capital One states that it's only available with assistance from a business banker and can't be opened online or at a Capital One branch.
Is there a minimum opening deposit for a Capital One business checking account?
Capital One's current business checking product and fee pages don't list a minimum opening deposit for these accounts. Confirm the final account-opening disclosure during the application, particularly for Premier.
Does a Capital One business account earn interest?
No. All three tiers state in their disclosure that the account doesn't pay interest and doesn't earn rewards. The Capital One business savings account is where the bank's interest-bearing business products sit.
How do I avoid the Capital One business checking monthly fee?
Maintain the balance threshold that applies to your tier: USD $2,000 for Basic, USD $25,000 for Enhanced, and USD $100,000 for Premier. Basic and Enhanced measure this as a minimum 30-day or 90-day average monthly ledger balance, whichever is greater. Premier is measured differently, on the average monthly collected balance. Enhanced Checking holders can also run up to two Basic accounts with the monthly fee waived on each.
Does Capital One business checking come with a debit card?
Yes, and it's included at no extra cost with all three tiers. Cards arrive by mail after your account opens, and you can order additional cards for employees through your account settings. If a card is lost or stolen, Capital One replaces it at no charge.
Does Capital One business checking support Zelle?
No, not for your business account. Capital One's Zelle is meant for personal use only, so you can't use it to send or receive payments for your business. If you need to move money for work, stick to ACH, or wires.
