A Step-by-Step Guide on How to Become a Lazada Seller

Step 1: Register a seller’s account with Lazada

On the Lazada’s seller centre website, you’ll be given three options: Lazmall Seller, Local Seller and LazGlobal Seller. Select ‘Local Seller’ to list your products for free. But before you sign up, check that your products are not on the Lazada seller’s prohibited list.

You’ll then be directed to a webpage that requires you to key in an OTP. This OTP will be sent to your phone. Fill in the other relevant details to move on to the next step.

Step 2: List your products

Next, you’ll be directed to the seller centre’s main page. You’ll be prompted to complete a to-do list. Key in your address and shipping details, then click ‘Upload Your SKU’ to begin uploading your products.

The good news is that the process is relatively simple. Lazada has a content score bar at the bottom of the page to help you optimise your product profile. But the process may be labour-intensive for some and takes a while due to the many details required to list a product.

However, this lengthy process still has its benefits. It keeps you in compliance with Lazada's strict requirements for independent businesses and encourages seller professionalism. Keep going until you have filled in your product price, quantity and weight.

With all relevant details filled in, you are finally ready to publish the product listing.

Step 3: Verify your bank account for payment

Don’t forget to link your bank account to your Lazada seller’s account! All payments are made through Lazada, where they'll take a cut of your revenue each time you make a sale.

To better manage payment and shipping, use the Fulfilment by Lazada service. On top of that, you can also access Lazada’s logistics service for warehouse storage, delivery and stock taking by clicking on the ‘Products’ tab on the main page's sidebar.

Tip 3: Give free shipping

One of the easiest methods to keep your ratings up is to provide free shipping. By absorbing shipping costs, the lowered costs will incentivise customers to click ‘check out’. Other benefits of providing free shipping to your buyers include:

Toggle around or use the Lazada University resource to learn how to best optimise your campaigns. Ultimately, this will contribute towards your product’s increased visibility and conversion rate.

Consider running Facebook and Instagram ads at the same time for a multi-channel strategy to improve traffic and direct sales to your Lazada account.

Tip 5: Have a separate business account for ad expenditure and shipping

Look out for cards and business accounts which offer you savings when you make business-related purchases. For instance, if you ship your goods from China, you’ll want to sign up for the Aspire Corporate Card. The Aspire Corporate card allows you to transact RMB at visa rates. With a low transparent 0.7% fee, you get a great deal when paying multi-currencies.
